High — not a dry houseplant

The Blue Oil Fern (Microsorum thailandicum) thrives in warm, humid environments with bright, indirect light. Keep its soil consistently moist but not soggy. Because it has a very delicate and fine root system, ensure the potting medium is ultra-airy and well-draining.

Light: Prefers bright to medium indirect light. Avoid harsh, direct sunlight, which can bleach the delicate fronds and ruin its signature blue iridescence.

Water & Soil: Water when the top surface of the soil just begins to feel dry. Use filtered, distilled, or rainwater, as these ferns are sensitive to chemicals in tap water. An orchid-style potting mix containing sphagnum moss, orchid bark, and perlite works best to prevent root rot.

Humidity & Temperature: Thrives in high humidity (60-80%) and warm temperatures (65ºF - 80ºF). Keep it away from cold drafts and air conditioning.

Feeding: This is a light feeder. Use a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to 1/4 strength, and apply it only once a month during spring and summer.

Grown in greenhouse conditions with high humidity. Will ship in the 4 inch pot. This plant is well-established and a good size. Please allow it to recover from shipping and don’t repot for 1-2 weeks.
