Delosperma echinatum, commonly known as the pickle plant or pickle cactus, is a unique succulent native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It gets its name from its plump, cylindrical green leaves that resemble tiny gherkins covered in soft, translucent, spine-like hairs.
• Appearance: Sprawling evergreen succulent shrub with thin, wiry stems growing 1 to 1.5 feet tall and up to 2 to 3 feet wide, producing small pale-yellow or white daisy-like flowers.
• Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light indoors or full sun to partial shade outdoors.
• Water: Highly drought-tolerant; water deeply but infrequently, allowing the cactus and succulent soil mix to dry completely between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in the winter.
• Soil & Humidity: Requires fast-draining, gritty cactus or succulent soil and low humidity with good air circulation.
Grown in a 2 inch pot in our pesticide-free greenhouse.
