The Suzi Wong fern, scientifically known as Nephrolepis exaltata 'Suzi Wong', is a fluffy, finely divided cultivar of the classic Boston fern. It is widely nicknamed the cotton candy fern because its soft, dense fronds resemble spun sugar.
Plant Features
• Appearance: Extremely delicate, feathery, bright green fronds that form dense, frothy mounds.
• Size: Grows roughly 12 to 14 inches tall indoors, though mature plants can reach up to 5 feet under ideal conditions.
• Growth Habit: Upright and outward-flaring, making it a favorite for tabletops, pedestals, and hanging baskets.
Care Guide
• Light: Thrives in shade to partial shade with bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the fine leaves.
• Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but never soggy. Water directly into the potting mix rather than pouring water over the top of the plant, as trapped moisture between the dense fronds easily causes rot.
• Humidity: Prefers high humidity.
Grown in greenhouse conditions in a 4 inch pot.
